The Ministry of Home Affairs handed the Citizenship Certificates to persecute non-Muslim migrants. Pakistani refugees, living at Majnu ka Tila refugee camps, got Indian citizenship through the Citizenship Amendment Act on May 15. Sheetal Das, a Pakistani refugee expressed his happiness upon receiving citizenship and thanked the Central government. Yashodha said that her children would now be able to get educated and have a better future and they would be considered Indians now. Applications have been received from persons belonging to Hindu, Sikh, and other communities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who entered India up to 31.12.2014.

Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 has been finally implemented in India. The Union Home Ministry has notified rules for implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on March 11, days ahead of LS Polls 2024. Home Minister Amit Shah, on multiple occasions, said that CAA rules would be notified ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to be held in April-May. The implementation of CAA triggered a wave of celebration among the refugees. Pakistani refugees on March 12 lauded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act. In a self-made video shared by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manoj Tiwari, showed refugees expressing their excitement and praising the Indian Prime Minister.
