Maharashtra has raised alarm bells as officials have claimed that there is a stark shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in the state. Senior health officials are also saying they may be forced to halt vaccination for four to five days next week if the new stock does not come. A total of 29,884 healthcare and frontline workers were inoculated on the first day of the second round of the COVID-19 vaccination drive in Maharashtra, as per the state Health Department. In Mumbai, only 71 healthcare workers turned up to take the second dose of the vaccine on 16th February. Over 1,500 healthcare workers and over 3,500 frontline workers successfully received the first dose of the vaccine. Several Mumbai Police personnel were inoculated by the BMC staff at Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central on Tuesday.
