A video of a 72-year-old Muslim man being assaulted on a train in Maharashtra has sparked widespread outrage on social media. The video shows a group of men attacking Haji Ashraf Munyar, accusing him of carrying beef. The incident occurred near Igatpuri in Nashik district as Munyar was traveling from Jalgaon to his daughter’s home in Kalyan, near Mumbai. The attackers are seen abusing and repeatedly slapping Munyar while questioning him about the meat he was carrying. They kicked him, abused him, and recorded a video of the assault and shared it on social media where it became viral. The Government Railway Police in Thane filed a first information report on August 31, leading to the arrest of three suspects. However, they were subsequently released on bail. The incident, which took place on August 28, has drawn significant criticism, with many calling for stringent action against those responsible. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde reacted to the brutal incident.
