"We really shot very well. I`m very happy. We wanted to win, because I`ve never been to the mixed team final (with Atanu). I really wanted that," Deepika, who last made an appearance in the mixed pair final in the 2016 World Cup, said after the win.

Star archery couple Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari assured India its first medal from the ongoing World Cup Stage 3 by entering the final of the mixed pair event with a comeback 5-3 win over Spain here on Thursday. Atanu and Deepika, who are India`s best medal hopes in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, were at their best to make their first final together where they will face the Netherlands in the summit clash on Sunday. World number three Deepika, who won the World Cup Stage 1 in Guatemala City in April, is also in the hunt for a second medal, having advanced to the individual semi-final for the second successive time this year.
Ace compound archer Abhishek Verma also kept India in hunt for another medal by advancing to the semi-finals of the individual section in the evening session with a 146-146 (10-9) shoot-off win over Martin Laursen of Denmark. Returning to action after almost two years, the two-time World Cup winner Verma, who had qualified as 11th seed, shot two perfect 10s including one X in the shoot-off to set up a last-four clash against Anton Bulaev of Russia. In the recurve mixed semi-final, Atanu and Deepika, who were ranked fifth in the qualification to get a first-round bye, lost the first set by two points against Daniel Castro and Ines De Velasco, who shot three perfect 10s including two closest to the centre (X) from four arrows.
