The Sports Ministry has approved financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for double Asian Games gold-medallist woman kabaddi player V Tejaswini Bai, who recently battled Covid-19 and lost her husband to the dreaded infection.

The assistance has been sanctioned under the new joint initiative with the Indian Olympic Association to support former athletes and coaches during the pandemic. The financial assistance has been sanctioned from the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay National Welfare Fund for sportspersons.
