Two Argentine couples, Emmanuel Casel- Yanina Muzyka and Agustin Agnez-Barbara Ferreyra, won the world’s biggest tango competition held in the Argentine capital on Saturday in a festival that paid tribute to late football legend and a long-time tango fan, Diego Maradona.
Held through a combination of in-person and virtual events due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the World Tango Dance Championship had 800 dancers from 25 countries with the finals staged at the heart of the Argentine capital. Throughout the competition, songs and dances paid homage to Maradona, who died of a heart attack on November 25 last year aged 60.
