Lucknow Super Giants’ West Indian pacer Jason Holder was all praise for his bowlers, especially the spinners, after the team’s convincing win over Delhi Capitals at the DY Patil Stadium on Thursday. Delhi opener Shaw got the Capitals off to a blistering start as they raced to 40 runs in the first four overs. He hit nine fours and two sixes in his 34-balll 61. But the Capitals could not capitalise on the rousing start and were held back in the remainder of the innings once off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham sent back Shaw with a clever piece of round-the-wicket bowling with LSG at 67 for one in the eighth over.
The Capitals finally managed 149 for 3 and the Super Giants, riding mainly on wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock’s measured knock of 80 in 52 balls (including nine fours and two sixes), achieved the target with two balls and six wickets to spare, for their third victory in four games. “It was that kind of wicket where you can get on top of the bowlers quite easily in the Powerplay because there’s not much swing. We knew even though they had a really good start that we could peg it back in the middle. And we’ve got some really clever spinners as well,” said Holder after the game.
