Kolkata: Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday made significant moves in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Their most expensive buy was the flamboyant West Indian batsman Shimron Hetmyer at Rs 7.75 crore. They also acquired the World Cup-winning English duo Jason Roy and Chris Woakes at their base prices of Rs 1.50 crore, and Australian wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey for a price of Rs 2.4 crore. Speaking on his team's four major buys in the IPL 2020 Auction, co-owner Parth Jindal said he is pleased with the business his side has done so far.
"It has been a very dynamic, yet a super exciting Auction for the Delhi Capitals. We were pleasantly surprised to get Chris Woakes and Jason Roy for Rs 1.5 crore each, and then getting a player like Shimron Hetmyer was the icing on the cake. We also managed to get Alex Carey, who is a really exciting prospect for us," he said. "With Roy, the good part was that he has played for Delhi before, and we felt that he has really developed in the last couple of years, and along with Hetmyer, he could be the x-factor for us at the top of the order.
