India all-rounder <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/icc-world-cup-2023-ind-vs-pak-hardik-pandya-india-mvp-against-pakistan-on-big-stages-23314349" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Hardik Pandya</a>&rsquo;s left ankle injury during the ninth over of the Bangladesh innings, gave India a blow.
Pandya was forced to leave the field. Later, BCCI confirmed that he was taken for scans.

However, the Pune crowd was excited to see <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/icc-world-cup-2023-virat-kohli-smashes-third-fifty-in-four-world-cup-innings-23315327" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Virat Kohli</a> being called to bowl the remaining three balls of Pandya&rsquo;s over. Kohli ran up to bowl his brand of medium pace to Litton Das amidst chants of &ldquo;Virat&hellip;Virat.&rdquo; Kohli bowled a fuller length delivery which Das played defensively. He conceded only two runs in his next two balls to finish Over No. 9 for India. &ldquo;Well bowled, Kohli,&rdquo; the spectators exclaimed.
Interestingly, Kohli bowled an over each in the 2011 World Cup quarter-final against Australia and in the final against Sri Lanka. He was also used for an over in&nbsp; the 2015 World Cup semi-final against Australia at Sydney.
