South Africa cricketer Faf du Plessis recently announced that he has retired from the longest format of the game but will continue to play limited-overs cricket.
Faf du Plessis also stated that he wanted to play the Test series against Australia which was postponed due to a possible COVID-19 risk.
The 36-year-old Proteas cricketer made his Test debut against the Aussies in 2012 where he won the man-of-the-match for his memorable 78 and 110. His last Test was played on February 4, 2021, against Pakistan. Du Plessis played 69 Tests and scored 4163 runs at an average of 40.02 with a strike rate of 46.32. Du Plessis scored 10 Test centuries and 21 fifties in his Test career.
Faf du Plessis succeeded AB de Villiers as South Africa`s Test captain in 2016 and led the team in 36 matches winning 18 and losing 15 before he stepped down in January 2020.
