If India have to win a Test series in England after 14 years, their batting must click. India have won only two out of 13 Tests across their last three tours to England (they lost 0-4, 1-3 and 1-4 in 2011, 2014 and 2018 respectively).
The Indian batsmen averaged just 23.95 during the 2014 trip and 23.91 in 2018. Then, at the recent World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton, India’s batting was a let down again following which skipper Virat Kohli brought up the intent factor that he felt was lacking in some batsmen.
