A local court in Qatar has sentenced eight former Indian Navy personnel to death, a verdict that has left India deeply shocked. These Indian nationals, who were all employees of the Al Dahra company, were detained in August last year in connection with alleged espionage, a report in PTI stated. The exact charges against these individuals have not been publicly disclosed by Qatari authorities, the PTI report added.
Reportedly, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has reacted to this development by emphasizing the high importance of the case and expressing its shock at the death penalty verdict. The MEA is currently exploring all available legal options in response to the situation.
