Pratibha Patil, a vegetable seller is from the Alibaugh village interior rural areas of Maharashtra and her project is to create stronger and more engaged communities by connecting buyers with established and remote farmers. She sells her vegetables for a living and is now expanding by using her vegetables for catering food too."It was my husband who encouraged me to cook and be independent. I dedicate this award to him" says Pratibha.
She feels that retired farmers can then pass on their invaluable local knowledge to motivated newcomers. Similarly, over 15 local women from various sectors, Fisherwomen, orthopaedic nurses, local village entrepreneurs and women in farming were awarded by Young Environmentalists Programme Trust and Suvidha NGO in association with Climate Reality Project India were awarded in rural Alibaugh yesterday to motivate more women to move towards self-reliance and Sustainable Development goals.
