The draft curriculum says that there would be two languages for these classes. one has to be chosen from a group of 17 Indian languages. The other can be a foreign where student can opt for English or any other foreign language or even another Indian language

The State Council for Education, Research and Training (SCERT) of the Maharashtra government classified English as a foreign language and non-compulsory subject for Classes XI and XII in a draft curriculum, reported PTI. The SCERT has also sought suggestions from the stakeholders till June 3.
According the curriculum currently followed, English is a compulsory subject for these two classes.
