On Saturday, the Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan stated that the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde would soon hold a meeting so as to provide permanent solution to onion farmers.
Farmers in the Nashik district have been protesting the Union government`s decision to hike the export duty on onions to 40 per cent. According to the farmers it hinders exports and pushes the prices in the domestic markets down.
