Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on July 26th every year in India to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil War. This significant day marks the successful culmination of Operation Vijay, a military campaign to recapture the Indian territories infiltrated by Pakistani forces in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
In 1999, the Kargil conflict erupted when Pakistani troops, disguised as militants, infiltrated the Line of Control (LoC). Their objective was to capture strategic heights and cut off crucial supply routes in the region. The intrusion came as a shock to India, and a full-scale armed conflict ensued.
