A day after the railway budget was tabled by D V Sadananda Gowda, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers took to the streets outside Churchgate station to protest against the Narendra&nbsp;Modi government.
Over 200 party workers gathered on Wednesday to vent their anger against the NDA government's railway budget.
The protesters chanted out slogans against Narendra Modi. Some Mumbaikars also joined in the protests.
Chitra Wagh, Mahila NCP President, said, "We did not get anything from railway budget this time from Modi government. This protest was necessary to make the public aware. It is 'acche din' for whom? BJP is now trying to sell Indian Railway by calling it loss making."
NCP also had some thoughts on the areas neglected in the budget.
Clyde Crasto, spokesperson of NCP of Maharashtra, said, &ldquo;It is ungrateful that Mumbaikars gave six MPs but in return new government gave them nothing through rail budget. Most of the UPA Government's railway policies were repackaged as NDA's railway budget. Just like old gifts in new gift wrapping.&rdquo;
Speaking about the growing number of accidents in locals, NCP raised the question on the provision which did not contained height increasing issue of platforms or harbour line starting fast trains.
Sanjay Dina Patil, NCP leader, said, &ldquo;New government has failed to do things in favour of commuters who are depending heavily on railways. Additional tracks, height of platforms are still a problem. Before elections, promises were made by BJP which have not been fulfilled through budget. Rise in tickets, goods, monthly passes has created an alarming situation now where common man is troubled. MPs are now not coming to fore to help sufferers.&rdquo;
