A video of a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus operating on the highway with a broken roof has caused alarm among the public. The video, which went viral on social media, shows the bus`s roof almost flying away, raising serious safety concerns. MSRTC has assured that action will be taken against those responsible for operating the bus against Standard Operating Procedures and putting public safety at risk.
MSRTC, known for having one of India`s largest public transport fleets with nearly 18,000 buses, has been grappling with financial losses since the pandemic-induced lockdown and subsequent workers` strike, leading to deteriorating bus conditions.
