A man was nabbed on Sunday night shortly after he stabbed and injured his 35-year-old estranged wife over a marital dispute in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/rpf-constable-shoots-dead-asi-three-passengers-on-board-jaipur-mumbai-train-23300920" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai</a>, the police officials told news agency PTI.
The incident occurred after the woman stepped out of the residence of her employer in suburban <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-water-cut-to-stay-for-at-least-another-week-23300884" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Khar</a>, an official told PTI.
The woman received injuries in her neck, the official said, adding the attacker was picked up from his home in Dharavi, reported PTI.
The injured woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she is recuperating and her condition is stated to be stable.
A case of attempt to murder was registered and further investigation is underway, the official added.
In another incident, the police have apprehended a 23-year-old murder accused who had been on the run for more than a month after bludgeoning a woman to death in Maharashtra`s Palghar district, an official told PTI on Friday.
The accused allegedly killed a 55-year-old woman on a farm in Divepada in Wada taluka of the district on the intervening night of May 30 and 31 and had been on the run ever since, senior inspector Suresh Kadam told PTI.
The accused allegedly bludgeoned the woman to death with a stone and fled the scene, he said.
Based on a tip-off, the police on Wednesday nabbed the accused from a farm at Mehandul of Bhiwandi taluka of neighbouring Thane district, the official said, adding that the man has been remanded to police custody till July 31.
Meanwhile, Police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Boisar in Maharashtra`s Palghar district on the charge of killing his wife, a senior official told PTI on Wednesday.
The accused was arrested from Lokhandi Pada, he said.
Addressing a press conference, Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil said the victim Mohini Milan Pawar, 30, was found lying in a pool of blood in her house on Sunday morning.
Her sister lodged a complaint, based on which a case was registered against the victim`s husband under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 (murder).
"The police probe team got a tip-off that the accused was about to escape to Gujarat. After getting this information, a police team rushed to the Boisar railway station and laid a trap. The man was nabbed at the railway station itself within five hours," he said.
During his interrogation, the accused told the police that he killed his wife using an electric wire and also stabbed her as a fallout of a domestic dispute, the official told PTI.
The arrested accused was produced before a local court which remanded him in police custody till July 27, the police said.
