<h2>A legacy of crooning, kindness and music</h2>

<p>It is a high five for a legacy of talent and kindness. The fifth edition of Amit Kumar Live in Concert at St Andrew&rsquo;s Auditorium, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/bandra-all" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Bandra</a> on October 7, will see Amit Kumar, son of legendary Kishore Kumar performing for the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) for the fifth year in a row to raise funds to support women with cancer. The highlight of the concert is the introduction of Muktika Ganguly, daughter of Amit Kumar and granddaughter of Kishore Kumar.</p>

<p>She will also perform along with her father. Muktika will be singing the well-known O Mere Dil ke Chain number. Amit Kumar, who said he was &ldquo;proud&rdquo; to be associated with CPAA, and believed in giving back to society, recalled his father had also once sung in concert for the cause. Muktika makes it three generations now, and also carries the Kishore Kumar legacy ahead in the most memorable way.</p>
<h2>Prithvi&rsquo;s popular fest is back</h2>

<p>Prithvi Theatre has provided a platform for a variety of emerging artistes as well as stories that need to be shared. Over the years since its inception, the Prithvi Theatre Festival has played host to some outstanding plays. The iconic theatre venue, we hear, is getting ready to captivate its audience once more with this year&rsquo;s edition scheduled for November 3 to 13.</p>

<p>In what promises to be an exciting line-up, the festival will feature new works by Naseerudin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Makrand Deshpande, Kumud Mishra, Vikram Kapadia, Aakarsh Khurana and Adishakti, a representative of the festival confirmed with this diarist. Enthusiasts will get to watch not just plays but live gigs, courtesy platforms like Jazz@Prithvi and SOI@Prithvi. Besides this there will be other sessions like dance shows, StageTalk@Prithvi, Fringe and Platform performances. To prepare for the festival, the venue will be closed for renovation from the October 10 till November 2, but the caf&eacute; will be operational as usual.</p>
<h2>London calling</h2>

<p>City gallery Project 88 will showcase the works of their in-house artists at the Frieze Art Fair in London. Artworks by Amitesh Shrivastava, Amol K Patil, Anupam Roy, Hemali Bhuta, Mahesh Baliga, Munem Wasif, and Trupti Patel will be part of the exhibition. &ldquo;Their [artists] work will explore the relation between human and non-human &mdash; be it nature, the outdoors, or politically contested landscapes. With paintings, textiles, photography, terracotta and bronze sculptures, our artists take a dynamic approach to the subject, exposing human and political traces within the seemingly organic fragments of our everyday environment,&rdquo; Sree Goswami, (inset) gallerist and director shared.</p>
<h2>When science is fun and games</h2>

<p>Remember the days spent outside the principal&rsquo;s office for flying paper planes in class? Well, for the next week, the Nehru Science Centre will use that very trick to teach secondary school children the wonders of space and rocket science. The week-long series of events are being held to celebrate World Space Week, shared education officer, Manjula Yadav (inset). &ldquo;The week commemorates the first man-made satellite, Sputnik, that was launched into space on October 4, 1957, till the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10,&rdquo; she said. Alongside space-themed activities, the Centre will also host a demonstration to teach children to make water rockets, using pressurised air and discarded bottles. Now, that&rsquo;s a classroom session this diarist would have loved.&nbsp;</p>
<h2>A vegan hotspot</h2>

<p>Come October 18, a new vegan culinary school in Kharghar will open the doors to its inaugural batch for a six-month module. &ldquo;Art of Vegan School will be headed by chef Khoushal Chawla, who has completed his Masters in Veganism from the United Kingdom, and has five years of experience. Each student will have their own gas frame, while lectures will be hands-on,&rdquo; shared Heer Chawla (left), founder and management head.</p>
