Mumbai: City sees 1.6 lakh dip in voters

The number of voters in Mumbai has dropped by 1.6 lakh as compared to 2019. According to the Election Commission (EC) electoral list, there are 96.49 lakh voters registered to date, while in 2019 there were 98.1 lakh registered voters.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra, Shrikant Deshpande, announced that the updated electoral roll was published on Tuesday (January 23). As per the EC data, 72.17 lakh voters are registered in the suburbs and 24.43 lakh registered in the city area. Of these, 52.03 lakh were male (53 per cent), 44.43 lakh female voters (46 per cent) and 1,018 transgender.
