The Mumbai Region Post Office launched 8 am-to-8 pm service at 60 post offices in the city and suburbs on October 9, which is celebrated as World Post Day. The services will continue on a permanent basis and have been launched keeping in mind the office hours of Mumbaikars who face difficulties in fulfilling their postal needs after their job.
“The 8-8 post offices will also facilitate financial transactions. The savings bank transaction counters, multi-purpose counter machines and stamp sale and enquiry counters, which were earlier in operation for five hours, six to seven hours and eight hours respectively, will now be available for 12 hours,” Postmaster General Swati Pandey told mid-day.
