The Powai police has arrested a 22-year-old accused identified as Ayaan alias Jafar Sheikh who allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman on the promise of deleting an obscene video recorded by him on his WhatsApp call to her.

The complainant is married but has been staying at her parents’ home. In the month of September, she received a message from an unknown mobile number. An unknown person tried to befriend her, but she ignored him and blocked the mobile number. On November 15, this person made a video call from another number to her. When she received the call she saw a man naked and immediately disconnected. But the accused had recorded a video of her receiving the call and sent it to her WhatsApp. He called her to meet him in Kurla and later to Ghatkopar threatening to upload the video on 
social media.
