Almost 1,870 bike riders were fined for not wearing a helmet during a special drive against traffic violators conducted by the police on Saturday and in the wee hours of Sunday at prime locations such as Marine Drive and Bandstand in Bandra.
“We are committed to ensuring that the traffic norms are not violated by citizens. We organised a drive and carried out nakabandis at 108 prime locations across the city. We have booked people under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, and we are optimistic about continuing this drive,” said a police officer on the condition of anonymity.
