Days after Monika More (16) fell in the gap between the platform and the train while boarding at Ghatkopar station and lost both her hands, another similar incident occurred yesterday. A middle-aged man, believed to be a rag picker, lost his hand after he slipped into the gap at platform number 1 at Bandra railway station while boarding a northbound suburban local.
The incident took place at 7 pm, after which the injured man was rushed to Bhabha Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Eyewitnesses said the man was boarding a Borivli-bound train, when tragedy struck. Western Railway sources said that the man was trying to board the train after it began to leave the platform. According to the source, the man was trying to clutch on to the pole with his left hand as the train gathered pace.
