Maharashtra CEO highlighted Thane district`s historically low voter turnout and suggested involving ASHA workers & others to increase voter turnout.

Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S Chockalingam has urged for specific steps to increase voter turnout, such as house-to-house outreach campaigns. Chockalingam spoke to media in Thane district while assessing election preparations for Thane, Kalyan, and Bhiwandi constituencies, emphasising the importance of seamless cooperation to ensure transparent and secure voting.
Elections for 13 Lok Sabha seats in north Maharashtra and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region will take place on May 20. Chockalingam emphasised the administration`s role in safeguarding democratic norms and called for a concerted effort to achieve transparent and fearless Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
