This year, India will be observing its 75th anniversary of Indian Army Day on January 15 in remembrance of the proud day when the Indian Army got its first Indian Commander in chief

The Indian Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every day. The day is marked in recognition of Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa`s, the then Lieutenant General- taking over the position as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Roy Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.
