The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement on Friday regarding Indian nationals stranded in Russia after being enticed by high-income security helper positions, only to be transported to the Russia-Ukraine border to engage with the Ukrainian army. At least three individuals have been injured at the border, with one unreachable after sustaining a sniper shot. The MEA acknowledged, “We are aware that a few Indian nationals have enlisted for support roles with the Russian army.
The MEA also said that the Indian Embassy has regularly taken up this matter with the relevant Russian authorities for their early discharge. “We urge all Indian nationals to exercise due caution and stay away from this conflict.” the statement reads.
