Scour hours of CCTV footage before zeroing in on man ‘who seemed nervous’

Kurar police officials return the valuables to owner Prashant Jadhav
Despite being handicapped by lack of clear clues, the Kurar police arrested a seasoned burglar and recovered stolen jewellery. The Malad-based Jadhav family had fallen victim to a burglary in November, resulting in the theft of jewellery worth Rs 7.65 lakh. The Kurar police conducted a thorough investigation ultimately tracing the accused and retrieving the burgled stolen valuables.
“Despite the absence of clear clues, we diligently examined hours of footage near the scene of crime. Amid the multitude of people passing by, identifying the suspect seemed like finding a needle in the haystack. A close scrutiny of the footage raised suspicions about a person who appeared a bit nervous while crossing the road. Although his face was not entirely visible, a passing auto rickshaw’s light illuminated it briefly. This fleeting moment allowed the police to capture an image, which was promptly sent to the nearby police stations and informers,” said an officer.
