In a bid to transform the cleanliness initiatives in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has initiated a comprehensive campaign to keep the city`s slum areas clean. Chief Minister Shinde`s directive comes as a response to his visit to the Vatsalatai Naik Nagar SRA Colony in Kurla on Sunday, during which he expressed his commitment to improving the living conditions for the city`s slums, an official statement said.
Chief Minister Shinde has directed municipal authorities to maintain a rigorous cleaning schedule, with public toilets and facilities across Mumbai being cleaned a remarkable five times a day. This move is aimed at drastically improving sanitation standards in densely populated areas, including slums and alleys, the statement said.
