The Khadakpada police, which is investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found in a derelict Kalyan building on Saturday, have revealed that the deceased had been captured by CCTV cameras walking with her boyfriend, Krishna Shirsat, towards the spot where her corpse was discovered. Shirsat, a 22-year-old B Pharma student, died after allegedly jumping in front of a running train between the Kalyan and Shahad railway stations on January 14, the day the teen—a Kalyan resident—went missing.
Sachin Gunjal, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 3, said that Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302 (punishment for murder) had been added to the charges in light of the new evidence. The police said they were investigating the reasons why the youths’ relationship had soured.
