The police in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-thane-man-loses-over-rs-77-lakh-in-bitcoin-trading-23312098" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane</a> have registered a case against six individuals for allegedly assaulting a 22-year-old man.
According to the police, the incident occurred in the Manpada area of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/dombivli-all" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Dombivali</a> on Tuesday.
"The incident took place while the victim was traveling in an auto-rickshaw with his girlfriend," according to an official from the Manpada police station, citing the FIR.
The suspects, one of whom is the woman`s brother, purportedly dragged the victim out of the auto-rickshaw and subjected him to severe beating. Additionally, they issued threats of grave consequences if he ever returned to their vicinity, the official stated.
The victim later managed to escape from the clutches of the assailants and promptly reported the incident to the police station, where he received first aid for his injuries.
"Relevant charges have been levied against the accused individuals," the police official added.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old driver of a tanker was allegedly beaten to death with sticks and an iron rod by four persons on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Maharashtra`s Palghar district after his vehicle brushed past their car, an official said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on October 1 morning, he said, adding that the victim, Ramkishore Badriprasad Kushwaha, had recorded the accused persons` act of beating him and damaging his vehicle on his mobile camera and sent the clip to his relative, which helped the police trace and arrest the four accused two days later.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim`s nephew, all the four accused were arrested from Nalasopara on Tuesday morning and booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 427 (mischief causing loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards) and 34 (common intention), the police said.
