In a cheque bounce case, a Thane builder was imposed with a fine and sentenced to `until the rising of the court`. According to a report in PTI, the builder was issued a fine of Rs 41.4 lakh. If the builder Anil Thakurdas Kursija fails to pay the fine within a month after being convicted under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, he would risk an extra two months in prison, the report added.
According to the report, the decision, handed out by Judicial Magistrate First Class Harish Pardeshi on January 5, was made public on Saturday. Kursija, who is now detained in another case, was named in a case filed in November 2016 by a Thane-based businessman. Despite full payment, the businessman accused Kursija`s construction firm, in which he is a partner, of failing to deliver possession of a flat.
