The Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a 45yearold man with a countrymade revolver and live cartridges near Mumbai Central Railway Station police said reported news agency ANIUnit 3 of the Mumbai Crime Branch nabbed the 45yearold near Mumbai Central Railway Station on WednesdayAfter the arrest a case was registered against the accused under the Arms Act at Nagpada Police Station in Mumbai reported ANIEarlier on February 17 the Mumbai Crime Branchs Unit 5 arrested three individuals involved in transporting drugs from other states to Mumbai for distribution reported ANIThe Crime Branch seized two vehicles filled with ganja and about 374 kg of ganja drugs worth Rs 1 crore 12 lakh in the international market was recovered reported ANIAlso Read Chhota Rajan gang member held in Mumbai pistol live rounds recoveredIn another case a garment unit owner has been arrested after a 73yearold businessman from Mumbai fell prey to an online investment fraud and ended up losing Rs 361 crore police said on Wednesday reported PTIThe Cyber Police have so far frozen an amount of Rs 220 crore and 330 bank accounts an official saidThe alleged transactions took place between May 20 and October 7 last year after the businessman was contacted by three persons including two women online who lured him into investing in a scheme by promising hefty returns the official said reported PTIThey also created a WhatsApp group made an online agreement with the businessman and sent it to his email ID The agreement mentioning the returns on the investments was shared in the group to gain the trust of the businessman he said reported PTIThe victim invested Rs 361 crore As he didnt get any returns on his investment he approached the West Region Cyber Police Station in Bandra Kurla Complex BKC and lodged a complaintThe name of the garment unit owner Ketab Ali Kabil Biswas came to the fore during the investigation and he was arrested on charges of cheating and forgery under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act on Monday reported PTIDuring the investigation the cyber police froze Rs 220 crore which had been diverted into two bank accounts Prima facie as many as 330 bank accounts used by fraudsters have also been frozen the official added reported PTIWith inputs from ANI and PTI
