The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maratha-quota-group-of-people-reach-activist-ajay-maharaj-baraskars-hotel-in-churchgate-two-held-23336675" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Cyber Cell</a> had received an online complaint from a victim who was allegedly duped by a fraudster under the pretext of investing in an NGO.
The 35-year-old victim, Pallavi Khare, a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-ludo-game-turns-deadly-labourer-stabs-co-worker-dies-by-suicide-23336350" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">poet by profession</a>, is a resident of Bangalore. She is in Mumbai to attend an event.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I had received a call from the fraudster and he had convinced me that the alleged accused is one of my relatives. He had expressed his interest in donating some money to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-police-register-second-fir-against-diamond-broker-23336349" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">my NGO</a>. he had stated that he would pay Rs 13,000. After some time he then stated that he had made the payment of Rs 40,000 by mistake and requested me to pay Rs 27,000 back. I trusted him and the payment. However, when I checked my account I realised that I had never received a payment of Rs 40,000. I realised that I had been duped as Rs 27,000 had been debited from my account and hence I approached the website without wasting any time,&rdquo; said Pallavi Khare, the 35-year-old victim who had been duped.&nbsp;

Pallavi Khare has filed a complaint with the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-trio-booked-for-intimidation-23335704" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Cyber Cell</a> and the police will investigate the matter.&nbsp;
Pallavi Khare (35) is a poetess. She is a resident of Banglore and runs a NGO named `We Unlearn`.
