Mumbai: 2 held for trying to sell charas that washed ashore last month

On September 27, the Trombay cops received information that two people were coming to Mankhurd to sell drugs

The Trombay police have arrested two Uran-based people for allegedly selling charas, that had washed ashore a month ago. A 26-year-old fisherman had found the narcotics on the shore and showed it to a friend who confirmed that it was genuine. Both decided to sell the drugs in the market and had come to Mankhurd for this. When cops caught them with 1.5 kg of charas, the team questioned them about the origin of the drugs and recovered 6.4 kg of charas worth Rs 30.22 lakh from the accused’s hometown.
In August, the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch unit arrested a man in his thirties who had come with 2 kg charas to sell. When questioned about the origin of the drugs, he took police to Ratnagiri where he handed over 8 kg of charas. He then revealed that he had found packets of the drug on the seashore. The Ratnagiri cops then launched a search operation along the coast to find more such packets.
