Maharashtra crime A 26yearold man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a police official and biting him during a brawl in Navi Mumbai an official said on Monday reported the PTIAccording to the news agency the incident occurred behind a mall in the Vashi area of Navi Mumbai on Saturday the official saidThe police on Sunday arrested Kapil Jogendrasingh Rana under section 353 assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code subinspector Nilesh Borse of the Vashi Police station said as per the PTIThe police constable received a call about a public brawl behind a mall in the area around 1140 pm on Saturday and on reaching the spot he tried pacifying the persons involved but was attacked and bitten by the accused he saidThe constable sustained injuries to his face and fingers and was administered first aid the official saidMeanwhile in an another incidentNavi Mumbai police registered booked the manager and three other persons working at a restaurant in the city for violating norms after some female singers there were found allegedly indulging in obscene actsPTI reported that a police team conducted a raid at the restaurantcumbar located on Palm Beach road in Vashi area at around 1 am on Saturday and found a violation of norms at the establishmentThe report quoting officials from APMC police station said that offences were registered against the restaurant manager a waiter and two stewards under Indian Penal Code sections 294 obscene acts and songs in public place and 34 common intention and provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Obscene Dance in Hotels Restaurants and Bar Rooms and Protection of Dignity of Women working therein Act the official saidThe police also issued a warning to four female singers who were found indulging in obscene acts at the establishment he addedIn a separate incident a 29yearold man from Navi Mumbai has allegedly been cheated of Rs 2022 lakh after being lured by fraudsters with an online job offer promising lucrative returns police said on SundayThe Navi Mumbai cyber police have registered an FIR in this connection against four persons they saidThe accused contacted the victim hailing from Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai between October 5 and 10 through a Telegram ID and WhatsApp and offered him a prepaid online task promising lucrative returns They also asked him to make payments in certain accounts a cyber cell official said quoting the complaintThe victim did the job and also made payments worth Rs 2022444 After completing the task when he sought a refund of the amount paid and also returns for the work completed by him the accused gave evasive replies the police saidThe victim lodged a complaint based on which the cyber police on Saturday registered a case against four persons under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 cheating and 34 common intention as well as provisions of the Information Technology Act the official saidwith PTI inputs
