India's first superfast train, The Deccan Queen, completes 83 years today. And it calls for nothing less than a celebration. So, Hassan M Kamal hopped on for one such ride to relive the train journey that has connected Mumbai and Pune for over eight decades now
She waits majestically on platform no 8 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Station, her forehead decorated with a red symbol of the swastika and a tattoo that reads Shubh Labh wishing a blessed journey.

The Deccan Queen Express is one of the most packed trains during the weekdays carrying hundreds of commuters from Pune to Mumbai; many of them working professionals who find place in the two bogies reserved for seasonal passengers. PicsS/Hassan M Kamal
