Even after achieving the title of the World`s Best Restaurant in 2023, chef Virgilio Martinez revealed in an exclusive meet and greet at St Regis Mumbai today that his family still gives him feedback. He shares, "My mother is an artist so she will focus on the container and the colour of the dish, saying `this colour could be better`. Even my sister, Malena, is worried about the ingredients and their toxicity, as many of them are unknown ingredients."
Martinez, whose restaurant Central in Lima in Peru was given the title of the world`s best restaurant in 2023, achieved it after slowly climbing the ladder from number six to number four before reaching the top. In the city to serve up specially curated meals this weekend at the five-star property in association with Culinary Culture, Masters of Marriott Bonvoy and Don Julio, Martinez exudes a different kind of calmness that makes everything seem so easy but comes with a lot of hard work that has been done over the last 15 - 16 years.
