Happening for the first time since 2019, the open-mic night will take place at Magari in Andheri. If you are an aspiring poet or spoken word artist, this is your opportunity to engage with the larger community and make the most of this experience

The last two years of the Covid-19 pandemic did take over our lives but now that things are getting better and people are out and about, performing artists are itching to get back on stage. Since the city is buzzing with live shows, there couldn’t be a better time to restart ‘Radio City Free Verse’, the experience we have all been missing for the last two years. This time, it is going to be better than ever before.
For those who are unaware, Radio City Freedom hosts an open-mic event every year that gives a platform to up-and-coming poets, storytellers, and spoken word artists to enthrall audiences with their words. The idea is to bring the community closer not just onstage but also off it, as like-minded individuals get a chance to showcase their talent, hone their skills and mingle. It is also the reason why anybody can take the mic at the free verse event to tell a story the way they want to.
This year, the event will have distinguished poets like Jigar Trivedi and Nishant Verma in the featured category. Photo: Radio City
Last hosted in 2019, the event garnered a lot of support, as it was also held at popular venues such as Todi Mill Social, Andheri Social and Monkey Bar. In fact, it was not only the venue but also because it was hosted by renowned personalities like Luke Kenny and Rakesh Tiwari. Along with Tiwari, prominent names in the community like Mehak Mirza Prabhu, Mohammad Sadriwal, Ramnik Singh, Ramya Pandya, Irfan Tarik Khan and Sanket Mhatre spun a web of words around the audience, who were totally mesmerised by them.
