Girish And The Chronicles: ‘We have this core love for 80s bands’

Ahead of their performance at Independence Rock music festival in Mumbai this weekend, mid-day.com spoke to Girish Pradhan, frontman of the Sikkim band based in Bengaluru, about their love for 80s rock, their journey, and performing with Guns ‘N’ Roses earlier this year

When Girish And The Chronicles take to stage at the Independence Rock music festival this November weekend, it will be a performance that was waiting to happen, especially after the iconic festival made a comeback last year after almost nine years. The Indian rock band, fondly known as GATC, which hails from Gangtok in Sikkim, is coming off hot of some major performances this year. Among many of them, it was opening for legendary American rock band Guns N’ Roses at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, that the Bangalore-based band will cherish for the longest time.
Frontman Girish Pradhan shares, “It was a dream come true for us being on stage and performing with them. We have been playing G N’R’s songs for the last 14 years. It has been a journey because we have grown up listening to bands like GN’R since we were kids.” It was only the latest in the line of performances in July because before that they also opened for legendary bands like Alter Bridge and Bullet For My Valentine at the Summerside Festival in late June, followed by a performance where they were supporting Mike Tramp from White Lion.
