With Four More Shots Please 2 nominated in Best Series: Romance/Comedy, Best Ensemble Cast at mid-day and Radio City Hitlist OTT Awards, creator Rangita Nandy unfazed about lack of critical acclaim

A still from Four More Shots Please
Within weeks of the series dropping online, the New York Times described the second season of Four More Shots Please as India’s very own Sex and the City. Not to mention, the Kirti Kulhari, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo and Bani J-led season soon became Amazon India’s most-watched Indian original of 2020. “We [sister Ishita Nandy and I] wanted to put our lives out there,” says creator Rangita Nandy, whose all-women series has been nominated in the Best Series: Romance/Comedy and Best Ensemble Cast categories of the mid-day and Radio City Hitlist OTT Awards.
Though the Devika Bhagat and Ishita Moitra-written series enjoys immense popularity, critical acclaim remains elusive. “I have done serious stuff, like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi [2003] and Chameli [2003], but we don’t need to do just that. Entertainment in all forms is being appreciated. As far as critical acclaim is concerned, it will follow if we remain honest to our characters. The love we get supersedes it all. We were [nominated] at the Emmys for God’s sake,” exclaims Nandy.
