A few days ago, television scion Ekta Kapoor confirmed on her Twitter account that she is coming up with a sequel to her popular romantc saga Kasautii Zindagi Kay. Ekta has already signed actress Erica Fernandes to play the main female lead - Prerna, which was earlier played by Shweta tiwari. However, according to a report in indianexpress.com actor Kushal Tandon might be roped in to play the male lead, Anurag Basu, earlier essayed by Cezanne Khan. Names such as Shaheer Sheikh, Angad Bedi, Barun Sobti, Ssharad Malhotra and Mohit Raina were also doing the rounds to play the male lead.

Apart from these two main characters, there was another character that is still remembered by the show's fans. It was Urvashi Dholakia's negative role of Komolika that is still fresh in people's minds. A report in indianexpress states that reality show queen Hina Khan is most likely being considered to play antagonist Komolika's part. Talking about this development, a source told the portal, "Hina has mostly been finalised. The financial contract and the final creatives are being locked with her. As for Kushal, the channel has liked his look test and things will be taken ahead with him. Ekta is personally keeping a tab on all the developments, as the show is very important to her. She will announce the final cast mostly by end of the month."
