At the pre-release event of Bholaa Shankar, Chiranjeevi addresses the criticism around him doing back-to-back remakes instead of original films

Chiranjeevi
Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi has been doing remakes back-to-back and it has not gone unnoticed by the audience. His upcoming film `Bholaa Shankar is also a remake. It is the official remake of the Tamil film `Vedalam` that starred Ajith, Lakshmi Menon and Shruti Haasan. Recently, he also played the lead in the Telugu remake of the Malayalam film `Lucifer` titled `Godfather`. Now, there are reports that the actor has plans of remaking the Malayalam film `Bro Daddy` that starred Mohanlal and Prithviraj as father-son duo.
At the pre-release event of `Bholaa Shankar`, Chiranjeevi addressed the talks around him doing remakes. Recalling a dialogue from `Khaidi No 150`, he said, "I did `Bholaa Shankar` because I liked it and in the hope that you [the audience] will also like it. What I don`t understand is that many are asking me why I have been doing remakes. If there`s strong content and directors and actors are taking the opportunity to bring it to the Telugu people, what is so wrong in doing so? After the advent of the OTT platform, people are exposed to films of different genres. Hence, people ask the need for doing a remake in the world of OTT. However, `Vedalam` is not available on any OTT platform. That gave us the confidence to do the film. "
