The actor shared the candid detail about his life in an interview with the Radio Times magazine, reports dailymail.co.uk.
"There's a rite of passage where I grew up from inheriting your ancestors' weapon," the 50-year-old said.
"My brother got my dad's(gun). I got my grandfather's when I was in kindergarten," Pitt added.
The "Mr. &amp; Mrs. Smith" actor was given his first air gun when he was in nursery and received shotgun when he was six and even fired a handgun by the time he was eight years old.
The actor also said that he learned "to respect the weapon".
