The Oscars 2024 nominations were announced on Tuesday. The biggest disappointment came in the form of the Greta Gerwig`s directorial ‘Barbie’ as it failed to get nominated in the Best Director and Actress in a Leading Role category. The film collected nods for best picture, suporting actress (America Ferrera), supporting actor (Ryan Gosling), adapted screenplay (Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach), costume design, production design, and original songs (`I’m Just Ken` and `What Was I Made For?`)
America Ferrera who shone with her performance as the human Gloria in `Barbie` won her first Academy Awards nomination in the Best Supporting actor category. Reacting to the female force behind the film getting snubbed at the Oscars, she told Variety, "I was incredibly disappointed that they weren’t nominated."
