Over a week after the Oscars 2024 nominations were announced, Barbie star Margot Robbie has opened up on the film not getting a nod in Best Actress and Director categories

Margot Robbie as Barbie
The Oscars 2024 nominations were announced last month. The biggest disappointment came in the form of the Greta Gerwig`s directorial ‘Barbie’ as it failed to get nominated in the Best Director and Actress in a Leading Role categories. The film collected nods for best picture, supporting actress (America Ferrera), supporting actor (Ryan Gosling), adapted screenplay (Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach), costume design, production design, and original songs (`I’m Just Ken` and `What Was I Made For?`) After actors America Ferraro and Ryan Gosling expressed their disappointment, `Barbie` star Margot Robbie has broken her silence on getting excluded from the nominations.
According to a report in Variety, Margot said that Greta deserved a nomination. "There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed. Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director. What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films.” She also said that she is "beyond ecstatic" at Barbie receiving eight nods at the Oscars.
