Comedian Ricky Gervais has defended Chris Rock over his controversial joke on Jada Pinkett Smith at the Oscars. The comedian, who often provokes celebrities at awards shows, said Rock&rsquo;s joke at the 94th Academy Awards that resulted in Will Smith slapping him wasn&rsquo;t offensive. He then proceeded to joke about disabilities.

Rock took a jab at Jada&rsquo;s autoimmune condition called alopecia which resulted in hair loss. &ldquo;Someone said it was joking about her disability,&rdquo; Geravis said in a recent interaction. &ldquo;Well I&rsquo;m going a bit thin. So I&rsquo;m disabled. That means I can park right up next to [British supermarket] Tesco now. I&rsquo;m fat and balding. I should get benefits,&rdquo; he laughed.&nbsp;Geravis&rsquo;s comments irked a set of citizens who criticised him for his apathy.
