Even though Mirzapur composer Anand Bhaskar’s recent project, Main Monica released on Amazon Prime Video without clamour, the film’s score, inspired by music from the ’60s through the ’90s, is particularly worthy of attention. “The series doesn’t depend on intentional or slapstick comedy. It is the situations that the characters encounter that result in [comedy]. It is based in dance bars, but is set in current times,” says Bhaskar, who employed retro funk, and disco to create the eight-track score.
