Gearing up for upcoming exhibition that kickstarts on January 24 at Hacienda Gallery, Baroda-based artist Shruti Nelson
You'll see more cars in her body of work than you would on the roads. No points for guessing that this lady is a hot wheel enthusiast and draws lot of inspiration from cars and bikes. Gearing up for her upcoming exhibition that kickstarts on January 24 at Hacienda Gallery, Baroda-based artist Shruti Nelson talks to CS:

In dreamland
My latest body of work, Enchanted Passage, showcases cars, meadows, fairytales etc. Since I'm someone with eclectic tastes, I have used paper, wood, cushions, bags and canvas for this show. My travels abroad have played an important role in these paintings. Just sitting inside a car and seeing the reflection of the world outside got me thinking about the duality of the world that we live in. And it is our dreams that make living here so interesting.
My special touch
I've always been fascinated by muted colours and this time I've used a lot of gold, silver and white. I like the overlapping effect that white lends to a painting. Having said that, I keep changing my palette. I don't want to restrict myself in anyway, and that is fairly evident from my work too. I use various media and even create my own stencils. And I always give reality my own interpretation.u00a0 In this show however, you'll enjoy visiting a non-existent, dreamy world of my own.
